Urinetown is a wickedly funny, fast-paced, and surprisingly intelligent comedic satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, and corporate mismanagement.

A terrible water shortage caused by a 20-year drought has crippled the town that serves as the setting. In a mad attempt to control water consumption, the government has outlawed the use of private toilets. The citizens must pay to use public amenities, which are owned by a megacorporation called Urine Good Company, operated by the corrupt and iron-fisted Caldwell B. Cladwell. There are harsh laws ensuring that people pay to urinate, but the privilege to pee is expensive – anyone who refuses to pay is immediately sent to the dreaded and mysterious Urinetown, never to be heard from again. The poor stage a revolt, led by a brave young hero, fighting for the freedom to pee.

Join us for the second-year Musical Theatre students’ first public theatre performance, at Burke Street Studio Theatre.
